COMPASSIONATE INQUIRY

“The purpose of Compassionate Inquiry is to drill down to the core stories people tell themselves – to get them to see what story they are telling themselves unconsciously; what those beliefs are, where they came from; and guide them to the possibility of letting go of those stories, or letting go of the hold those stories have on them ….”Dr. Gabor Maté

Background
I am currently studying Compassionate Inquiry, an approach to trauma therapy created by Dr. Gabor Maté and Sat Dharam Kaur ND. I arrived here after completing my studies in sexuality education because so much of what impacts people’s sex lives is related to social and cultural shame, sexual violence and other past trauma. I wanted to have a better understanding of human development in relation to sexuality,  but also how we can heal from limiting beliefs and constricting experiences in general. Through this program I am gaining so much insight into how our early years influence who we become, and already I’ve benefitted enormously from refaming triggers and asymetrical emotional responses as opportunities to discover more about myself. Understanding the stories we tell ourselves, and allowing ourselves the freedom to feel and accept what we are going through is a powerful way to unlearn the legacy of systemic and personal trauma.

About Compassionate Inquiry
“Compassionate Inquiry® is a psychotherapeutic approach created by Dr. Gabor Maté over several decades while working with both patients and retreat participants. This approach gently uncovers and releases the layers of childhood trauma, constriction and suppressed emotion embedded in the body, that are at the root of mental and physical illness and addiction.

When clients perceive the therapeutic relationship as a safe container, compassion and curiosity allow them to acknowledge and examine the traumatic events that happened to them as children, recognize the beliefs they internalized, and feel the emotions they suppressed. This contributes to the healing process.

Using Compassionate Inquiry, both the individual and therapist unveil the level of consciousness, mental climate, hidden assumptions, implicit memories and body states that form the real message that words both express and conceal. When we can release ourselves from the hold of these stories, a new way of being emerges, leading to spontaneity, choice, expansion and freedom.”

My Offer
I am still exploring exactly how I will integrate this approach with my sexuality education background. In the meantime, as part of my training I need to complete a number of practice hours doing CI, so I invite you to become a client if it feels right for you. In these sessions we work with your intention for that moment. Sessions are led entirely by you and your comfort level, so my questions are merely invitations, and we always go at your pace.

Practically speaking, I propose three one-hour, bi-weekly sessions, after which we will discuss if and how we would like to proceed working together.
To respect each of our time commitments, I’m offering these sessions on a reduced rate or trade basis. I’m open to any suggestions for the trade, whatever you feel called to offer is great.

Availability
I am available for these sessions Monday through Friday during office hours on the CET time zone. I generally meet online but I’m happy to meet in person if we are in the same city!

Next Steps
Email me at morgan@ooocollective.com with your availability for the first call, and anything else you’d like me to know.  I look forward to hearing from you!
